Dédre qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2005 after completing her Articles with BDO. During her time at BDO she specialised in Auditing small to medium sized companies in industries ranging from manufacturing, NPO’s, retail, software development, construction and laboratory services.
After qualifying in 2005 she jetted of to the United Kingdom for 5 years where she was working in American Investment Banks: Bear Stearns and Merrill Lynch. During this time she gained extensive experience in working with and analysing large amounts of data and became an advanced excel user. Working in a multinational company also instilled soft skills such as working and communicating with a large number of people from all over the world of different ethnic back grounds.
At the end of 2009 she returned to South Africa and got involved in setting up and running an accommodation and tour operating business aimed at accommodating people who came to watch the 2010 FIFA World Cup. After a very successful World Cup season she decided to return to her main passion of being a Chartered Accountant.
Since 2010 she had a small practice performing bookkeeping, accounting and taxation services for her clients. She also did part time contracts at other organisations with her most recent contract being a maternity cover for the Deputy Finance Director at the Government Printing Works during 2015.
It was during the middle of 2015 that she decided to officially incorporate Savvy Chartered Accountants. The vision and mission of Savvy Chartered accountants being that of its founder: To not only help grow the businesses of its clients, but also train and equip young people in the art and science of accounting.
